Yes, it is a Falafel Burger! Just the most delicious burger I’ve ever had. It is grilled to perfection and loaded with greens, vegetables and pickles! And who needs mayo if you have a tahini sauce to go with it! OMG so delicious and oh so good for you!
Falafel Burger
Ingredients
- 2 cups dry chickpeas
- 1 yellow onion
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp falafel spice mix
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large tomato
- 4 leaves romane lettuce
- 1 large tomato, cut into round slices
- 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
- 2 pickles, cut into round slices
- 6 burger buns
Tahini Sauce
- 1 cup tahini paste
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup water
Falafel Spice Mix
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Soak chickpeas in the water overnight.
- Drain the water and rinse chickpeas.
- In the food processor on the high speed mix chickpeas, onion, garlic, falafel spice mix, baking soda and flour. Stop from time to time and scrape the walls of the food processor bowl with the spatula.
- Continue mixing until all ingredients are incorporated and you reach a smooth consistency.
- Make 6 patties and set aside.
- Preheat the grill or a large skillet.
- Brush the patties with olive oil and place it on the grill or pan.
- Grill or fry the patties for about 7 minutes on each side.
For the Tahini Sauce
- Place tahini paste in the mixing bowl.
- Add garlic, lemon juice and salt.
- Whisk it until smooth consistency.
- Add water little bit by little bit to thin the texture.
- Stop when you reached the consistency you like, check for seasoning.
For the Falafel Spice Mix
- Mix all the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.
To Arrange a Burger
- Place a burger bun on the grill.
- Grill it for about 2 minutes until you can see the grill marks.
- Put a leaf of lettuce on the bun.
- Place a tablespoon of tahini sauce over the lettuce.
- Put a falafel patty after. Followed by tomato, chopped parsley and few slices of pickles.
- Place the top part of the bun.
- Serve and enjoy!
