Blistered Shishito Peppers with Butter Beans Crema

Here is a perfect appetizer. Mild, smokey, sweet shishito peppers and buttery, garlicky, rich beans is a perfect match. But get yourself ready for a surprise. About 1 out of 8 shishito peppers is spicy.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups shishito peppers
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 can butter beans
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Method
 

  1. Toss shishito peppers with 1 tbsp of olive oil. 
  2. Preheat the skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add peppers to the skillet and cook them, stirring occasionally until they are charred and tender. 
  4. Add butter beans, garlic clove, lemon juice and kosher salt to the food processor. 
  5. Process it until smooth. 
To Serve
  1. Spread some bean creama on the plate, top it with shishito peppers, sprinkle the peppers with salt.
